The inagural vintage of our "Aged In Stone" series, the 2021 Cabernet Franc is made of estate fruit from our Swoope vineyard, fermented and aged entirely in large-format, 4000 liter concrete tanks. The concrete provides a fantastic middle ground between steel and oak, allowing the wine to breathe while aging to round out the sharpest edges of the acidity, but also preserving the fruit characteristics without contributing any additional tannins or flavors. The end result is a beautiful, pure expression of Shenandoah Valley Cabernet Franc, lighter in body than typical Virginia Cab Francs, with a ripe fruit flavor and more subtle black pepper characteristics.
